New for 2001!
If a guest, after staying in either lodge during the season decides
to join the club, a rebate of up to $100 from their guest rates paid
during the season will be deducted off the senior member's entry fee!
The club has about 600 senior members, most of whom live in the Auckland area. There are also members living all over New Zealand and around the world. Members have year round access to well equipped and comfortable lodges at Iwikau (Whakapapa) and Ohakune (Turoa). Winter rates are $17 per night for adults and this includes cooked dinner and breakfast. The Iwikau lodge is five minutes' walk from the car park and you can often ski most of the way to the chairlifts in the morning and back to the front door at the end of the day. Add to this the great companionship of fellow members from all walks of life. The club offers chances to compete in racing, both friendly and serious, as well as promoting the level of junior skiing through an annual scholarship. Members can take guests to the lodges, providing that there are bunks available, for $35 per night. How Do I Join? Membership to the club is open and there is no waiting list. Nevertheless there are a few people who leave every year for one reason or another and most years a few new members are admitted to replace those lost. If you are interested in joining one of the premier sports clubs on Mt Ruapehu you should write to:
It should be possible to arrange to stay at one of the lodges during the ski season so you can find out how great the club is. The joining fee is $300 per plus the annual subscription of $130 per adult ($110 if paid before May each year). Couples are $600 and subs are $160 per year ($140 if paid before May each year). |
